Three generations of the same trade

Heating and cooling has been the family trade for three generations. Ryan DeRue grew up around it, served his time in it, and now runs 3 Gen HVAC Services out of Utica, covering Macomb, Oakland, St. Clair and northern Wayne.

Why that is more than a nice story

Equipment in this part of Michigan has patterns. What fails and when, what the housing stock was built with, which shortcuts a builder took in a subdivision in 1994 that are still causing trouble in the bedroom above the garage. Three generations of recognising those patterns means a diagnosis takes ten minutes where somebody new to the area is still swapping parts an hour later, hoping.

How we work

You get a price before anything is taken apart, and that price does not move unless we find something and you agree to it. You get shown the old part. Every gas appliance gets combustion tested before we leave, not because it is required but because carbon monoxide does not announce itself.

And when a repair does not make sense, we say so. A twenty two year old furnace with a cracked exchanger is not a repair, and telling somebody that costs us a small invoice and earns the replacement, the maintenance plan and the neighbour.

What we will not do

No commission on parts, so nobody has a reason to find a problem you did not have. No scare selling on a safety inspection. No cheapest-bid installs where the ductwork gets ignored and the new equipment runs badly for fifteen years because of it.
